Amine (NH2) Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes
Amine (NH2) functionalized nanotubes are a derivative of our COOH functionalized nanotubes. We typically react the carboxyl COOH group on the nanotubes with ethylene diamine (H2N-CH2-CH2-NH2) using a coupling agent. This results in a nanotube with an amide linkage and a primary amine group at the end of the carbon chain. CNT-C(=O)-NH-CH2-CH2-NH2 Coupling is confirmed by FTIR. We can also create thiol functionalized nanotubes using a similar route.
